GAZA (IQNA) – The death toll from deadly Israeli air raids on the Gaza Strip has surpassed 1,900 as a convoy of Palestinians moving to the south of Gaza was targeted with Israeli missiles.

The aggression started after the Hamas resistance movement launched a multi-front operation codenamed Al-Aqsa Flood against occupied lands on Saturday, noting that it was a response to the desecration of al-Aqsa Mosque and increased Israeli violence across occupied lands.

The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said on Friday that at least 1,900 Palestinians, including 614 children and 370 women, have been killed by Israeli airstrikes and shelling in the besieged Gaza Strip since last Saturday.

The ministry also said that at least 7,696 Palestinians have been injured in the Israeli aggression.

Among the dead were 70 people, mostly women and children, who were fleeing Gaza City on Friday after the Israeli military ordered residents to evacuate the area ahead of a planned ground invasion.

Hamas' media office said the Israeli forces targeted the cars of the evacuees in three locations as they headed south from the city.

The forced displacement of thousands of people in northern Gaza has been condemned by human rights groups as a war crime.

The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged the Israeli regime to reconsider its evacuation order, saying that the situation was approaching "a moment of calamitous escalation".

Meanwhile, the Israeli military confirmed that it launched ground raids in northern Gaza and the West Bank early on Saturday, but denied that it had entered Gaza with troops. The military said it was targeting Hamas' tunnels and rocket launchers.

Furthermore, a Reuters cameraman was killed and several other journalists were wounded by an Israeli missile attack on a media vehicle in southern Lebanon on Friday. The journalists were covering the Israeli attacks from a hilltop near the border. Among the injured were two Al Jazeera staff members.
